I designed powertrain components and ground support equipment …
… for Joby’s record-breaking hydrogen vertical take-off aircraft. Joby's typical aircraft has a range of 100 miles — retrofitting it with a hydrogen powertrain expanded that to 523 miles, a more than 5x increase.
This is the power of hydrogen.
The video above showcases only a small portion of the groundbreaking hydrogen-powered flight programs I get to work on at Joby Aviation. In my role as a Mechanical Design Engineer on the Hydrogen Powertrain Team, I work on cooling system design, high-speed turbo-machinery, cathode and anode (oxygen and hydrogen) component design/sourcing/envelope expansion testing, electric motor integration/analysis, and performance data acquisition and sensing.
